Oh dear!
She is less than a year old as well! The Faroese passenger ferry Norrona, in which Shetland Islands Council has invested over £4m of its oil money in, has run aground in Faroe Islands. The ship was coming into the harbour at Torshavn when high winds blew her onto rocks. All passengers have been taken off the ship, which is reported to be taking in water. The vessel runs an all year round service between Shetland, Faroe, Denmark and Iceland. |

The latest news I have been able to find out is that the ship was arriving into Torshavn from Iceland when she was blown off course by strong winds.
There were no injuries reported, and the ship was brought alongside in the early hours with assistance from other vessels. Damage is reported to be severe with a 10m tear in her hull resulting in Engine room flooding. A relief vessel has already been secured whilst she is being repaired. |

Didn't Tregastel go to the Shetland Islands when sold by BF - is she still there under whatever new name ?
The Tregastel was sold to P&O Scottish Ferries and for a short time carried the name Treg until becoming the St Clair . P&O lost the right to operate the service which is now run by North Link so all the P&O Scottish Ferries fleet were sold as as mentioned before she now has the name Barakat. The previous Norrona, sister to the Quiberon, has now been reactivated and is running the Smyril Line service on a temporary timetable. |

According to Fakta Om Farty, she's now called MS Barakat and sailing elsewhere. Not quite sure where, but Rotterdam is mentioned!
As St Clair she made the final sailing for P&O Scottish Ferries from Lerwick to Aberdeen on 1/10/02. Then she went to a Rotterdam shipyard under the name of Barakat flying the flag of Saudi Arabia, where I suppose she now operates. There was a bit about it in Ships Monthly, Jan 2003 |

Do you have any idea at which yard it will be repaired and get perhaps some info, how much Euros the damage will cost to repair ? Hope they can get it soon back in service, as it´s the only ferry they have for Smyril Line. By the way, the old Norröna, is it still laid up somewhere, or sold already ???
