Default Calling All Members....

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to know how you feel the forums can be improved.
Is there a new forum you feel should be added, or something you'd like changed?
Whatever your suggestion(s), I'd love to hear from you.
You can either post your comments below, or PM them to me in confidence.
Many Thanks,
Dan.

Hi, so you consider giving that forum a refit
I had some ideas recently, how the forum could be more "homely" for us all.
First I think, a board "Events planning" - ok thatīs nicked from P&O board would be cool. I have mentioned sometimes, that it would be cool to meet up with other members, no matter if thatīs just me planning a trip and asking around whether hey, someone else also fancy a trip ? A meeting with chat & few drinks. That way itīs goin on other boards and met some great peoples by that !. Same board can be used for organized group-happenings like an NYE trips.. I still dontīunderstand why the moderators did not offer other members to join them on the maiden voyage of Pont Aven etc..
Second, bit more community spirit. No matter who, were from, and whatelse we have all the same hobby ! Therefore, slagging off etc. should be totally off ! Plus I noticed that some people think they can make out peopleīs character by some posts, messenger-contacts and put them virtually in a box where is standing "good" or "bad". Itīs not so for real. Misunderstandings can happen easily, as we are not all people who are as good in this as some top-writers and not all are English speaking either. So, a bit more mercy would be good too for otherīs faults. Would create a far more easy atmosphere.
Posting of non-relevant things.. that was mentioned before, but itīs often hard to tell what is, and what is not. Putting every link from yahoo here, is not the wish. When it comes to some "great pics, thanx" text if someone load pics up, ok it might be non-relevant but on the other side, itīs a big encouraging for the person who either put the pics or the travel-report there So why stop that.
OK, thatīs what I have been thinking of..especially an "Events planning" board Iīd find cool....

Dan,

This forum is really very well!

A large thank you for the work of all of the BFE team(Andy, Dan, Phil K, Micheil).

But, it could also include a chat window like the P&OFE forum?!

Greetings from France,

Yann Ferries

Your right, a more homely feel would be nice.
An events planning board may of have its idea stolen from P&OFE but it is definately a good start. As mentioned on earlier posts an ID card for saftey on BFE events- this could be like a credit card form of our profile.

OK, some might think it is not good if some "nick" an idea from the P&O forum. I am not sure if the moderators there would mind (so, BF mod . could clear that up). In general I think, if something is working successfully, why not take it, and if something has not shown much success, why not drop it.
Security? I donīt know how you mean. On the other meetings this word was even not mentioned and it was good fun for all of us. But it is also been often so that to those meetings you could join on own responsibility. Means if I book right now my flight to London, go to Portsmouth to meet up with you, and anything happens - itīs my risk, as well as it is, and has been on all my previous trips.
But, a better atmosphere, not much what moderators can do about it, only we all can

I feel that trying to copy another forum is a bad move. This forum should be allowed to develop on its own merit, rather than just becoming another version of one elsewhere.

However, it is not up to me to speak for the Webmasters, it is up to them how they set up the forum, from all our input.

Yes, to copy something in exactly the same way is not good. I think at least give them a different names. But I think, what members of forums want, no matter if BF or P&O are usually the same things, or not ?
But right, itīs up to moderators to decide what to do and what not to do. We just can write our ideas here.

shoutouts...
[/quote]

That could introduce a more homely feal. and the discussion in off topic is too...well, formal. I mean we dont have conversations and stupid but funey treads like they have on P&OPFE. :

Shoutouts would be cool, as well the chatroom seems always to be empty.
Stupdi threads ? If anyone wants such, it would take me just 5 min. to put 7-10 up here on the off-topic forum
I am though not going to do that as it would result in protests from many other members. Who here would like to read about me, and my new fascination with French supermarkets for example ?
I remember well when some complained that discussions about "ferry with best livery etc".. are senseless. Somewhere in between, not post total nonsense and not be too formal would be nice. Letīs do that and see how everyone likes..
