A Stena- ferry is in Brest too. It's a sister ship of Normandy. I think it's the one wiche operates from Rosslare.

ok dont worry about the pictures then stupid shipyards etc etc etc moan moan moan....... (you get the idea) [/quote] No!! Please remember that Brest is a French Naval (military) port, thus there are restrictions just as there are in the U.K. For example: Devonport, Faslaine, and to a certain extent Portsmouth. Also Brest is the home to some of the Fernch submarine fleet, so I am sure you can understand their fears. Just think what is going on around the world, with all these terrorist threats etc. It only takes one and you could end up with a big mess. In the present climate of mistrust of anything that is not normal, then these establishments are going to be on a high state of alert. To that end everybody who enters these areas are searched and their details logged. Some establishment go as far as to ask you to leave mobile phones and photographic equipement at the gatehouse. This is how worried they are about security. So to that end onlty people with genuine business in these areas are admited, and they are subject to rigourous checks. So quite honestly I don't think, in the present climate, that enthusiasts taking photographs of ferries comes into that category. Just look what happened to the plane spotters in Greece. Regards |

It will take again its service on the Rosslare - Fishguard line on February 14, 2004. Concerning the harbour of Brest, I hope that that will not be to close during the armament of the Pont Aven. |
