Ferry firm back in chamber recruitment campaign

Brittany Ferries has rejoined Plymouth Chamber of Commerce after an absence of seven years.

Under its present chairman, Charles Howeson, the chamber has embarked on a major recruitment drive.

Membership now stands at about 600 businesses of all sizes.

Maria Hammett, general manager of Brittany Ferries, said: "We knew there had been lots of changes at the chamber. We had seen things in the press and we had spoken to Charles Howeson and we felt that after a period of absence, it was time for us to give the chamber a try."

The chamber's operations director, Sally Perdrisat, said:
"Brittany Ferries is one of the main organisations in the city as far as tourism is concerned. It has made a significant investment in the new ferry, and it has been out of the chamber for seven years".

"We're delighted that they have come back."
