Finnjet starts a new route

Tomorrow (17/06/2004), Finnjet starts a new route between Rostock and St Petersburg:

On the legendary Finnjet you can wine and dine in romantic settings, have a swim in the pool, enjoy a traditional Finnish sauna or go to the cinema. Whatever you choose to do, you are sure to have the time of your life.
As from June 2004 the ship is as good as new! Cabins as well as public areas have been compelety re-furbished just in time to begin the new route between Germany and St Petersburg.

The "legendary" Finnjet was supposed to leave Rostock today at 17.00 to Tallinn and St. Petersburg. However, they are still in Rostock, due problems with the electronic, the engines do not work. This is really the worst moment at which this could happen, just at the first trip to St. Petersburg.
I just got that info from two friends who are onboard right now - and stuck in Rostock :P

Unfortunatelly comes worse, got an sms today, they are on the way to Tallinn now, and supposed to be there around 10.00 I think they should actually have been able to do that distance quicker, at first. Plus they have cancelled St. Petersburg !
What a blame for something what was announced as something like a second maiden-voyage after the big renovation for over 10 Million Euros.

It's not very nice for the passengers and definately not easy for the company. All the hype re the launch of a new ship/route.

OK, no St. Petersburg this time, but onboard is also some press, and the boss of German Silja Line Mr. Rohrbach and he has alot of work to do to get the people satisfied
However, it is so, that everyone onboard will get the same trip later again - not money back but same ship, same destination another time and hopefully not same bad luck for them.
As well, all to drink and to eat is for free onboard now ! Now, that should cool the tempers down a bit. After all, if I was onboard, I could say, ok not so fine.. but things happen, and ships are not 100% technically perfect.

"getting on bit now" ??? What is that, I do not understand what you mean by that.
I think it is due to the renovation, although they have tested it afterwards. On the other side there have been problems for the last three years very regularely onboard, what has not been at 1990 and some years after that.
