here is the VR i promised from todays 24hr day trip.
Plymouth - Roscoff 09.00 - 14.45 arrived at 8.00 in milbay to find that the POnt had only just entered the sound, this was because of naval rubbish! and that the roscoff sailing was delayed by around 1 hour 45 minutes! checked in and eventually boarded through the car deck at 10.00 ish. my first impressions of the pont were fantastic, she is visually very pleasing and the cabin corridors are great, exceptwhen you are pushing a heavily laden wheelcahir through the deep piled carpets! the 4 deck atrium, although smaller than excepted is still certainly impressive and btw for those of you that commented on this, i dont find the artificial water fall thing tacky and horrible! having made our way up to the foward viewing area above the bridge we finally left plymouth at 10.35 with 3 very loud blasts of the ships horns. nearly everyone who was there jumped about 6 foot especially 3 girls who thought they would have a snooze, i was surprised to see that she had 2 horns, and it is the one by the viewing area that does it!! lol muhahahahah etc etcthe ship was delayed by nearly 2 hours because of the fog outside plymouth as well, and therefore another hour was to be enjoyed onboard. and when that fog horn started i have never seen 200 people scatter so quick, (from the viewing area). the trip otherwise was calm and un eventful, had a good look around and played bingo with DJ pete, (not mutley ) the onboard band picaso were quite good and after lunch of fish and chips in la belle angele we arrived at roscoff 1.5 hours late.Roscoff - Plymouth 17.00 - 21.45 well the times actually turned out to be 17.55 - 21.35 and thats why this report is short! but it was still a very enjoyable crossing, spent quite a bit of time on deck and had a dip in the pool which i must say is very good, and watching little kids getting thrown around by the motion of the water is fun as well! on the return we had a 2 berth outside booked (5105). but i had a mad idea and decided to upgrade to a club 4 cabin, and after i was told it was only an extra 7 quid to do it, i didnt hesitate, so thats 25 quid in total for a club 4 cabin. and what did i do for half the crossing, watch TV! any way the cabins are very nice and the air conditioning is far superiour to the rest of the fleet. the POnt is also the most Disabled friendly ship i have ever been on, every door has a ramp slope and not one thing to have to try and get over, all the exterior doors are automatic and theres lifts everywhere! overall i would say that the investors have sent 100 million wisely and that BF have a wonderful ship |

Glad to hear you enjoyed her Karl.
Club 4's are excellent value for money, it is a great shame that there aren't more club 4's on-board and that you cannot book in advance and have one with a 24hr fare or mini cruise - you have to upgrade on-board instead :-( Dan. |

Very good report, Karl
Apparently you liked the Pont-Aven in spite of its delay. I would like if you took a cabin for the crossing of Plymouth with Roscoff? It's a pity that you did not have a little time to visit Roscoff! Yann ferries |
