The construction of Seafrance Berlioz quickly advances with the shipyard "Les Chantiers de l'Atlantique" in Saint Nazaire in France. The new ferry of the company Seafrance will be brought into service in Mars 2005 on the line Calais - Dover. It will be able to transport
1900 passengers and 714 cars at a speed of 25 knots .Here a presentation of Seafrance Berlioz: http://www.seafrance.com/en/our_new_ship/index.php Here the last news of Seafrance Berlioz: http://www.seafrance.com/fr/presse/c...onerie2004.doc Here first pics of Seafrance Berlioz: http://www.lavoixdunord.fr/vdn/journ...MIE/ART1.phtml |

Now, when this comes into service it will make P&O´s fleet looking rather old. It would be then time for them to invest into something new, too.
Especially as the two Darwin- class ferries are not really, what they have been announced to be. They are extended and refurbished freighters, now for passengers but they do lack a nice and welcoming feeling onboard which you can find onboard the Rodin and other Seafrance ships. |

I hope that the Berlioz has some design modifications following experience with Rodin. The main one I would like to see is the opening of a pavement cafe at the stern outside deck. It is a big, sheltered space, which would be prefect!

P&O are actually meant to be reducing the number of ships 'apparently'

I know Karl
But is that I read on a Yahoo group on the ferries it there at a few weeks! Thus one will see well in a few months what the P&O Ferries will have to decide to make on the level of its fleet of ferries. |
