Default St. Malo bridge movements

Does anyone know if the bridge between Intra Muros and the port lifts to a schedule? Don't want to get caught out!

The times used to be posted in a timetable case on the wall of the Voyages Pansaart Offices at the Bus Station. I don't know if they still are. I have spent several fruitless hours on the net trying to see if they are posted on-line with no success.

BUT today I found this within two minutes There is a link to the timetable at the top and these opening times are clearly linked to hours around high tide.

That's very interesting, around the malo the worst point is still the barrage de la Rance. In summer time you can easily get stuck for one hour in your car.

Ille-et-Vilaine Council are planning on a new viaduct across the Rance for 2015, costing 200 million euros. Has created a lot of reaction in the area about the environmental impact and cost and the fact that it will be holidaymakers who will benefit most… The bad news for you is that it will be a toll bridge.

St-Malo and Dinard region is living largely from Holidaymakers money and they've got a problem with a bridge built for them... really the world has gone stupid!
That would be very good to have such a bridge.

The restricted lock openings the last couple of summers are a real pain in the ass for those of us with moorings above the dam. A number of projects have been mooted, but none yet accepted to my knowledge. A second lifting bridge at the upstream (south) end of the lock has to be the quickest, simplest and cheapest option.

What about a fly-over bridge (over the existing lock and landing further on the dam) with acceptable clearance for sailing yachts?

More expensive, and more likely to cause disruption during construction. A simple road extension around the lock keepers' office, lifting bridge similar to the existing one, and infill as needed to take the road back through the carpark to rejoin the main road. This diversion would only operate when the downstream (northern) existing bridge was lifted.

This would work for sure, they have got strong abutments, and the span is not huge. Could be built rapidly with minimal disruption to the locks by dropping a finished unit spanning over the lock entrance.
