Default Winter Drydocks

We were advised this evening, by Brittany Ferries, that we had to change some of our bookings at the end of November as it It would appear that the " Pont Aven" is going to drydock on Sunday 21st November, and there is now NO SAILING to Santander on Friday 26th November or a return service on Saturday 27th November. This service has been taken out of the timetable in the last few hours.

Also the St.Malo service from Portsmouth will revert to "Summer Schedule" for the period that the " Pont Aven" is away and the positioning service Plymouth - St.Malo & return is also removed from the timetable for that week. The "Bretagne" will be staying in Plymouth to operate the Roscoff service.

From carefully checking the timetable it would appear that the " Pont Aven" will only be away for ONE WEEK.

Regards to all

During this winter 2004/2005, the Barfleur will not make any technical stop.
It should be known that this ferry undergone a technical stop every two years.

If you have a look at brittanyferriesdirect.com, the Bretagne is doing St Malo in Decemer with POnt on Plym-Ros. I'm guessing Val must be on refit then? Surely they wouldnt do that if she was going?

Think you might have got that slightly wrong. If you look at the timetables you will find that the "Pont Aven" operates Plymouth - Roscoff (Sun - Thurs) & Plymouth -Santander (Fri - Sat).

The "Bretagne" operates Plymoth - Roscoff (Friday night - Monday AM), Plymouth - St.Malo (Monday AM) St.Malo - Portsmouth (Monday & Wednesday Nights), Portsmouth - St.Malo (Tuesday & Thurday Nights), St.Malo to Plymouth (Friday AM).

As in previous years, a 2 ship service Portsmouth - St.Malo (Monday -Thursday).

Seems to me this is an extraordinarily early first drydock, after only 8 months of service. As I recall the Mont St Michel entered service in December 2002 and had its first drydock 12 months later in December 2003. Given last month's well-documented problems it might be a wise move on BF's part to get the Pont Aven slotted in early as a precautionary measure, and I guess there may have been some work they decided to put off doing earlier this month in favour of an early drydock. At least it means she should, hopefully, get a full, uninterrupted two months on Portsmouth - St Malo in the New Year.

Default Pont-Aven: technical stop.

The Pont-Aven will be at Brest the nov. 21 until nov. 29 for a technical stop at the ro-ro ramp to change 3 generators and their engines.

I would like to know if a person of this forum now knows the dates of the technical stops (Winter Drydocks) of each ship of Brittany Ferries?
