Exclamation French Blockade

Does anyone know anymore about the following, which is mentioned on the P&O Ferries sailings page?

"Due to a blockade of the Calais & Le Havre Ports by French Fishermen, sailings are experiencing difficulties berthing. Should you have tickets to travel to either ports, please check-in as stated and our staff will provide you the latest update."

Don't blame them, 6 weeks ago pump prices 0.74 - 0.77€, today pump prices 0.87 - 0.92€. A rise of nearly 18% in six weeks is a bit much. We know had to fill "Jeep" today, didn't like it!!

Just heard on radio, Cherbourg is the target for tomoorow morning.

Who are they to complain-Price in Ireland for petrol is €1.00 or even €1.10 per litre. This country is a rip off-no wonder tourists won't visit!!

Fuel prices are ever-rising here, too. And I expect my maths is wrong, but what the French are paying is less than us.

I expect there will be another fuel protest here sooner rather than later. Here in the UK (obviously I can't speak for elsewhere) most of the price of our fuel goes straight to the Treasury. I suppose I shouldn't have accused the French of whingeing, but I expect our own pump prices will eclipse that and soon.

Here, everything to do with road transport is taxed heavily. I have paid car tax this week, and yesterday got caught speeding just outside Portsmouth and will have to pay a further £60 (plus acquire three very pretty little asterisks on my driving licence!). My own fault as I was speeding, but still galling to be caught by a cash camera.

Whenever I have filled up with fuel in France, it has always been at the prices mentionned here that Irish Fuel is at. To Be Honest, in the days of the fRanc, I used to hold fire until on French soil to fill up with flammable liquid, but now all i rely on is the position of the needle.

Yeah ? It's around 91-92c in Midleton, around 94-95c in Douglas, it was 95c on the Quays in Dublin on Wednesday.

Last week I saw it near Euston Rd in London for 86p which is around eur1.29 so whatever else is dear here (coffee, drink, fags, baguettes, augmentin, electricity, broadband, magazines, news papers, eating out) petrol is certainly in the bottom range of European prices..I'm sure we have all stopped in Morlaix and just put in enough petrol to get to the other side such was the price of French stuff ;-)
